Free mammography screening is offered by Charleston Area Medical Center through a special grant from the Salvation Army's Marguerite Capehart trust fund two days of each month.  Limited space is available (18 screenings per day).  Registration is required.  Call 345-9051.

To receive a free mammogram, women must meet the guidelines established by the American Cancer Society, which include:

• Must be 35 years of age or older,

• Cannot be pregnant or nursing,

• Cannot have breast implants,

• Cannot have current breast problems or a history of breast problems for themselves,

• Cannot have had a mammogram in the last year (very specific to date),

• Must have a physician for the results to be sent.
