Who does the Ways to Work program help?
Families who are working or in school, need transportation and can afford to make small monthly car payments. You don’t have to have perfect credit to qualify. In fact, we want to help people improve their credit ratings.
Applicants must meet the following eligibility guidelines:
· Resident of Kanawha, Putnam, Boone or Clay County
· Involved parent of at least one dependent child
· Income below 200% of the federal poverty level
· Employed with their current employer for six months or
Enrolled in a post high school educational institution
· Exhausted other funding sources
· Demonstrated an ability and willingness to repay the loan
How can I apply for a Ways to Work loan?
Call 344-8445 or 1-866-GIVE CAR to see if you meet the basic eligibility qualifications. A volunteer loan committee will review all applications and decide which loans will be approved.
How Does the Ways to Work Program Work?
Families who qualify will receive low interest loans to purchase
cars from the Good News Mountaineer Garage. The vehicles
will be thoroughly gone over, repaired at our garage and
sold at or below loan value to those who are approved for loans.
Loans Ranges and Terms
· Loans range from $1,000 to $4,000 depending on the cost of the vehicle.
· Repayment terms vary from 12 to 24 months depending on the size of the loan.

Loans are provided at 4.75 % interest.
