Present: Michele
Baranaskas (RFRN Staff), Amanda
Harrison (Kanawha Communities That Care), Connie Aldridge (Central
Child Care of WV, Joy Hicks (Amachi WV – Mentoring Children of Promise),
Billie Moore (UniCare), Jamie Cotrill (WV State Department of
Education, Office of Educational Institution Programs), Debbie Hon (Automated
Health Systems), Carol Murphy (Human Resource Development Foundation), Lesley
Cunningham (Human Resource Development Foundation), Lisa Gladwell (Apprenticeship
for Child Development Specialist Program), Jessica Hudson (Prestera
Center for Mental Health Services) and Angie Haney (Upper Kanawha Valley
Starting Points Center/Parents As Teachers).
Michele
extended a welcome to everyone and asked them to introduce themselves.
Jessica
Hudson, Community Liaison with Prestera Center for Mental Health Services,
shared information about the many services that Prestera Center provides: Adult Services (incl. Partial
Hospitalization), Developmental Disabilities Services, Children &
Adolescent Services, Addictions Services and Crisis Services. Chemical Dependency Detoxification is offered
at PARC West and can also be provided at Highland Hospital. Medicaid, Medicare, 3rd party
insurance and sliding fee scale are all used to pay for services. Customers are not turned away for inability
to pay. 1-800-642-3434 is Prestera’s
toll free number. Each office of Prestera offers Open Access, so that consumers
needing services can walk in without an appointment at a specific time for a
clinical assessment; preliminary service plan and arrangement for whatever
followup appointments are needed. This scheduling system removes a large layer
of the complication that may have previously prevented people from
investigating Prestera’s many services.
If you would like Jessica to speak at a community meeting, call her at
304-341-0511 ext. 8790. She can be
reached at that extension from any Prestera office number as well as the toll
free number.
Kanawha
Communities That Care will meet next on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the WV
Prevention Resource Center at 1400 Ohio Avenue in Dunbar, with lunch provided,

people from sharing their prescription medications. So far, 23 boxes of the bags have been
distributed to county pharmacies. CTC is
still awaiting word on the federal Drug Free Communities grant application.
Michele
inadvertently left off of the announcements page information about the ACDS
class orientation in Dunbar on August 16th.
